Lowville Academy High School, founded in 1808 as a private school, has evolved into a top institution of secondary learning through the continued efforts of a supportive community, stable administration and dedicated teaching staff.
On the heels of a successful 201st year of serving students, Lowville Academy High School is proud to continue offering a rich array of academic programs housed in an expanding, modern learning campus that is historically and symbolically situated in the center of town. Being geographically centered in town, Lowville Academy has a unique opportunity to be the center for cultural, athletic and educational opportunities not only for students but also County residents. Students who attend represent a mainly white, rural student population though some ethnic diversity is increased from the neighboring Fort Drum influence. Our poverty index level puts us in a category of high need according to New York State. Currently, our facilities are being modernized through our "Bicentennial Building Project". Upon completion in the Fall of 2010, state of the art facilities will enhance our K-12 learning complex.
On the academic side, the high school’s reputation as a leader in the north country comes from a belief in high expectations for students and a caring and dedicated teaching staff. Recently, academic figures show:
