I've gotten a bit behind in my reporting. I have posted a couple of slide shows from the Indian River/Sandy Creek meet, and the Van Dusen Invitational. More to come. May 1 Copper City Classic at RFA Lowville was limited to ten points in the event, good for eighteenth out of 27 teams. Michelle Haapala placed fourth in the high jump and Ashley Panowicz placed third in the long jump. Both athletes had taken the SATs earlier in the day. Fortunately they were able to overcome their mental exhaustion to win the awards. May 15 Van Dusen Invitational Lowville finished fourth with a score of 73.5 points. Ashley Panowicz won the gold medal in Long Jump, and Michelle Haapala won gold medals in two events, the 200 meter dash and the high jump. Her winning jump of 5-02 1/2 breaks the former school record of 5-02 set by Heidi (Crossman) Szalach in 1992 and tied by Michelle on at least four occasions. Lowville brought home numerous medals from the prestigious event. More details on the 2010 page May 20 Frontier League Tournament Lowville finished third with 77 points. South Lewis dominated the scoring with 173 points. Excellent weather resulted in many presonal records. Lowville's sole blue ribbon came in the long jump. Ashley Panowicz and Taylor Haenlin actually tied for the best jump (16-03.50), but Taylor edged Ashley in the tie breaker (second best jumps). Complete results on the 2010 page. May 27 Section III Class B2 Championship Meet @ Solvay Lowville finishes in third place with 95 points.
