Frontier League Championship Meet at South Jefferson

South Lewis 173     Beaver River 86     Lowville 77     South Jefferson 70     Carthage 52     Indian River 47     Watertown 34     APW 12     Sandy Creek 7

Independents...Lyme and Copenhagen

Lowville finishes a respectible third in the annual event.  Many excellent times and personal records were posted.  One area that stood out to me was the 100 meter dash.  Morgan Rook, Sabrina Jantzi, and Kayla Dittl each ran a time of 13.6 in the trials.  Unfortunately for Kayla, she missed the finals in a judges decision.

Taylor Haenlin and Ashley Panowicz each jumped 16-03.5 in the long jump.  Taylor was awarded first place based on second best jumps.  Ashley had an excellent second jump of 16-02, but Taylor's second jump equaled her best jump at 16-03.5.

Dominique Domagala capped an excellent senior season with PRs in both the 100 high hurdles and 400 low hurdles.

These and many more excellent performances were had there.  Full results on the link below.

Would it be whining to note that both teams that finished in front of Lowville were in a higher division last year?!?!?  We actually scored three finishers in two events, the 200 meter dash and the high jump.  Lowville finished first in three jumping events and in the 4x100 relay.

June 3   State Qualifier at CNS

Perfect conditions, good efforts, exceptional performances.  Top two finishers in each event (that make minimum standards) go to the state championship meet next weekend.

The 4x100 relay team of Morgan Rook, Morgan Lampson, Ashley Panowicz, and Michelle Haapala placed 7th overall in division 2 with a time of 53.38.  They were edged out for 6th place by 0.01 second

Dominique Domagala finished 8th in the 400 meter low hurdles.  Dom edged Caitlin Bailey of Old Forge (in a true photo finish) by 0.005 seconds.

Michelle Haapala, nursing a sprained ankle, managed to clear 5-00 in the high jump, good for 6th place in the tight competition.  The top two competitors finished at 5-02.

Both Ashley Panowicz and Taylor Haenlin popped outstanding PRs in the long jump.  Ashley finished 4th with a jump og 17-09 and Taylor finished 5th with a jump of 17-07.  Competition was outstanding in that event this season.  In 2009 a jump of 17-02 medalled at division 2 states.  Tough luck, but great jumping girls.

Taylor Haenlin qualified for her second trip to states by clearing 10-00 in pole vault.  Her effort equalled the first place jump of Sara Young from South Lewis, but Sara was awarded first due to misses.  In 2009 a jump of 10-00 was good enough to medal in division 2 states.

Congratulations to Lowville track and good luck next week.
