Second place went to Rachel Ashley in the long jump, and the 4x100 relay team of Michelle Haapala, Morgan Lampson, Morgan Rook, and Ashley Panowicz.  The relay team roared from a fourth place ranking using excellent baton passes to barely miss a championship, finishing one-tenth of a second behind Herkimer.

Tuesday, May 13    South Jefferson & Indian River

South Jefferson and Indian River fought a titanic battle for the league title (Indian River won by one point despite South Jefferson winning ten events and two relays).  A few Lowville performances shone through despite the tough competition.

Michelle Haapala placed first in the high jump at 5' 0, defeating the top ranked high jumper in the league (Cali Hitchinson) who had cleared 5'3 in April.  Michelle also ran a PR of 28.0 in the 200 meter dash for third place.

Ashley Panowicz won the long jump.  Her effort of 15' 0 1/4 defeated Brittany Moody by 1/4 inch.

Dana Roes competed in the 400 low hurdles for the first time and looked great, placing fifth with a time of 1:19.6.

Katie Czerwinski competed for the first time this season and registered an excellent jump of 30'10" in the triple jump.

Finally, it was great to see Kaitlyn Shockey on the track again running like Kaitlyn Shockey.

Tuesday, May 6   South Lewis & Sandy Creek

We take our first league loss of the season 63 - 78 to South Lewis in the division showdown.  We split the meet by defeating Sandy Creek 100 - 35.

Tuesday, April 29th

Watertown and APW

Our second Frontier League Tri-meet at Watertown.  It was cold and windy, but al least it wasn't raining.  We won eleven events on our way to raising our league record to 4 wins and 0 losses.

Taylor Haenlin broke her school record in the pole vault with an amazing effort, clearing nine feet on her final attempt, just seconds before she had to dash down to the 4x400 relay.

Saturday, April 26th

the Warrior-Hawk Invitational

We travelled to Central Square for the Warrior-Hawk Invitational.  With nearly half the team missing due to conflicts, the coaches came up with some interesting ways to fill events.

Domanique Domagala finished eighth in her first attempt at the pentathlon.  Michelle Haapala finished seventh in the high jump.  The sprint medley relay team of Kayla Bogdanowicz, Sarah Hanno, Dana Roes, and Rebekah O'Brian finished seventh as well.

Elise Kelly, Deb Kaban, Rachael Kaban, and Keely Sammon placed fifth in the 4x800 relay.  Elise says never again after her initiation into the event.  Ashley Panowicz, Michelle Haapala, Marissa Maring, and Elise Kelly place fourth in the 4x400 relay.  Ashley has similar feelings about the 400.

Our best award of the day was in the long jump, where Ashley Panowicz hit a PR of 16' 1" on her fifth jump.  Ashley had been leading the event after her trials jump of 15' 6 3/4, but had to be satisfied with second when another jumper snapped off a seventeen footer.

Domanique Domagala, as part of her pentathlon performance, set a remarkable PR in the 100 meter high hurdles at 17.6 seconds, eight tenths of a second better than her previous best time.
