AS A SOPHOMORE THIS YEAR DAVID PITCHED SIX SHUTOUT INNINGS AGAINST THE NUMBER ONE TEAM IN THE NATION FOR DIVISION III (CORTLAND STATE). DAVID ALSO PITCHED A COMPLETE GAME SHUTOUT AGAINST PLATTSBURG STATE UNIVERSITY. DAVID HELPED THE LAKERS WIN THE ECAC CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YEAR THEIR FIRST SINCE 1996. DAVID'S ERA THIS YEAR WAS 3.20 AS A STARTER FOR THE LAKERS.
2000 Graduate Richard Trick- Defiance College- Catcher
Article Submitted from collegiate America: Richard Trick, a graduate of Lowville Academy and Central School, has been named as one of the 2005 players to watch across the USA, as chosen by the NCAA Division III baseball coaches. Mr. Trick, The son of Richard and Carolyn Trick, both of Lowville, is a catcher for the Defiance (Ohio) College Yellow Jackets. On the teams web page, The yellow Jacket's coach Chad Donsbach is quoted, "Trick is the emotional and physical leader leader of this team. Each opposing team is looking to shut him down as he is the most powerful bat in our lineup. He enjoys that pressure and it is up to all of us to make sure he gets opportunities to be productive at the plate." The site said in its preview of the 2005 season,"On defense, the 6-4, 215 lb. senior is responsible for directing Jacket alignment as the squads catcher. Trick was able to throw out 19 runners attempting to steal and turned two double plays in 2004." Last season, Trick was named to the All-Heartland Conference First Team for his .370 batting average in conference playas well as 13 RBI and .452 slugging percentage. He hit four doubles in conference and accounted for a team high 33 bases. The catcher also made 96 put-outs in 21 HCAC games and committed just two errors. Last summer, Trick was a player coach for the Defiance Summer program that won the league championship. Mr. Trick is a seniorat Defiance, majoring in physical education and health and wellness. He also was the starting tight end for the 2004 Yellow Jackets Football team. Mr. Trick also played baseball while attending Ohio Northern and played for the Watertown Wizards in 2003.
