                     Alternative Book Report Requirements

(you must have)

Be prepared to give an oral book talk about the information that follows:

·        The book you read

·        A prop that represents the book

·        A rubric that you create to grade the prop on a scale of 1-4 with 4 being the best grade.

·        A 5x8 card with the information listed in the following order and labeled:

·        A description of the book, 25 – 50 words – Do not give the ending under any circumstances. Do not use the book jacket for this part.

·        A quote from the book that you find of particular importance or interest – the quote should really give the flavor of the book or the message (theme) it is trying to convey (get across) or something that a character says that you connect with or agree with. Put the page # where you found it!

·        A reflective piece is to write about what you think of the book – it has to be more than, “I liked it.” Tell why you rated it as you did using a scale of 1-10 with 10 being one of the best books you have ever read. Also, refer back to the quote and explain why you chose those words.

·        Your suggestions for props are to give your peers ideas in case you convince them to read the same book.

*See the alternative book report files for suggestions and ideas.
