Reading Journals
|
|
Journal entries afford students the opportunity to connect text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-the world. Entries must be legible, thoughtful, and meet the requirements. Students will respond to texts they read by writing specific details to support their opinions. A journal entry might occasionally be a free write in response to a teacher read aloud. Other times a journal entry might be in response to a visual presentation or other media. As journal entries are assigned they will be posted under the Homework category. See other links, such as Journal Prompts, under Reading Journals for more specific information on how to complete journal entries for book reports. Also, look at my teacher examples of journal entries that I have modeled in class and posted on this website. Over the course of the school year students will read between 6-8 books for outside reading. NYS Standards require that students read at least 25 books a year. Students are also required to keep a reading log.
